Matthew 15:8-9“ These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.”
Some times we can be so deceptive. So much so that we deceive ourselves on so many different level. We have all had moments in our lives where we were taken aback by our own actions and attitude. Have you ever had an instance where you reacted very negatively towards someone or said something so vile that you did not believe it can from you? That is what happens when your heart is far from God. When your life isn’t a reflection of Christ you realize that your worship of Him and your honor to Him isn’t really true nor is it from within rather you realize that your seriousness and spiritual(ness) are all lip and material service not heart service.
Honoring God with your lips And giving Him praise and worship outside of the depth of your heart isn’t true to God. God isn’t interested in those of us that will claim we love Him yet do everything that speaks otherwise. Do not let your worship and honoring come out of mere lip service. Your relationship must be built on truth and depth. Singing is great but if it’s not from the heart it’s useless. In the same manner worshiping and honoring is great but apart from the depth of the heart it is in vain. Examine yourself in truth and change that which ought to be changed.
