Matthew 13:19
“When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.”
Lack of understanding can stunt growth. It can put you in a position where you always find yourself falling prey to the enemy. Lack of understanding also makes you vulnerable. When it comes to the word of God, surface human understanding can never suffice. With God word must come divine revelation and insight from the Holy Spirit. We cannot gain true understanding by merely reading. We can only gain true understanding from the Holy Spirit. When you lack understanding from the Spirit of God it’s easy for the enemy to snatch what you have heard before it ever has the chance of taking root.
Now with the knowledge that the Holy Spirit is the one who gives us understanding we have to then realize that when we hear the word we must sit and allow the Spirit of God to give us the necessary understanding. It means we must commune with the Spirit. We must sit at His feet and allow ourselves the opportunity to comprehend. Hearing alone is not enough. We must tap into understanding and and in order to do that we must remain Him. Don’t allow the enemy the chance of taking away the gift of the word you have received simply because you refuse to sit at the feet of the father to receive understanding from His Spirit. In all your ways seek understanding from the one above, for all His spoken and unspoken words and mysterious.
