Proverbs 29:23
Pride ends in humiliation, while humility brings honor.
There’s a level of pride in everyone. To some degree, pride is good. There’s nothing wrong with you being proud and satisfied with your work or being confident in what you do. However, this innocent pride and confidence can turn into something dangerous if we are unaware of ourselves. If we are not conscious of our actions and our behavior we may develop some prideful ways that can and will quickly bring about our downfall long before we can even come to our senses.
On another hand, pride can keep us from depending on God. If our ego takes over our lives, it keeps us from trusting in God. If we are not careful, we get to a place where we feel that we no longer need God. For that reason, we eliminate Him from our social life. We begin to disengage spiritually, we block him physically, and so much more, but it is vital that we realize that we cannot do without the Lord. It is essential that we daily lay at the feet of God and continuously ask for the grace to identify any pride in our lives and grace to get rid of that pride.
If we fail to do this, we will be living with pride without our knowledge. Pride will always be sneaky, and it will keep trying to creep in unbeknownst to you. Beware and humble yourself in the hands of God.
