Out With Old In With New

January 4

Ephesians 4:22-24

“to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”

‭‭Once you have been saved into the Kingdom, you must intentionally put off the old self which is corruption and deception. The old self does not fall away by itself, rather it is you who have to strip it off on a daily basis. It is a decision that must be made on a consistent basis because even after salvation the old self will present itself to you on many occasions and you have to turn it away in all seriousness. The desires of the old self are present only to deceive you and lure you into the pit of death.

You must allow the Spirit of God to renew you mind because it is through the renewal of the mind and through the Spirit that you are able to discern and call out that which is corrupt and deceptive. We must also understand that before our mind can be renewed by the Holy Spirit we must first submit to the Holy Spirit. When we find ourselves in a place of submission we allow the Holy Spirit to teach us and to prune us. It is also important for us to know that the putting on of the new self is a daily decision. As a believer you must awake making a conscious decision to do away with the flesh so that you can walk and operate in the Spirit. The new self which is created in the likeness of God can not be corrupted, so if you walk in the new self be rest assured that you are victorious.
