1 John 2:15-16
Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.
If your eyes are more keen on this world and the things within and around then it might be time for some refocusing. Your heart will follow the things that you focus your eyes and attention on.
As scripture says when you love the world you do not have the love of the father in you. This doesn’t mean you get to love the world a little bit and then give the rest unto God. It means if any part of your heart is for the world then you leave no room for God. In the same manner that a person cannot serve two masters or be a Muslim and a Christian at the same time so you cannot be of God and be of the world. There is a decision that you must make if you consider yourself a Christian. Life has to clearly be black or white. It is either of God or of the enemy, and there is no argument about that. Anything that is not of God is contrary to Him. The world cannot offer you anything good. What is offers are the things that feed the flesh while killing off your Spirit man. Your love for this world cannot produce anything good. All the fruit in this world will only lead to death. Keep your eyes therefore on Christ, ask Him to enable you in Loving Him from the depth of your heart. Loving Him so much that the world means absolutely nothing to you.
