Ephesians 4:31-32
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
I know you have convinced yourself to believe that you have every right to hold on to that anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, pain, etc. You have made yourself believe that you have the right to hold everyone accountable for what they have done to you. For this reason you are stagnant, bitter, and sad beyond measure. As believers and just human beings in general we feel the need to hold on to everything. For this reason many of us have so much offense that we are gracefully keeping on our racks. We have unforgiveness and spite, that we have placed on the trophy shelf. We are collecting these foul things as though they are prized possessions and they are not.
As sad as that is, what is even worse is our position in receiving all these negative pieces makes it impossible to receive from the Lord. Rightfully so, because if our hands are filled with rage, anger, malice and all manner of filthy things, how then can we take hold of what the Lord has for us? It’s as simple as it gets, in order for us to receive from the Lord we must be able to let go, completely and absolutely the things that are holding us bound. We cannot receive from God if we have no space to utilize what He’s giving unto us. Furthermore being a good father He cannot throw good things our way if we cannot catch them. Ask yourself this question. I’m i in a place where I can receive blessings from the Lord? Throw away everything that’s a hindrance. Those things (anger, slander,…..) hurt no one but you. If you’re angry towards someone or have unforgiveness towards someone you are the one who dies inside. Rid yourself of the things that you have given power to. It’s not a requirement to hold on to those things. Let them go and live freely for the Lord while doing His will and remaining in Him.
